Kansas City is Spitting Mad at Jo Ann Emerson (R - Mo)

Jo Ann Emerson's choice of whom to stand with could not be clearer. On the one hand, you have a mob of crazy tea-baggers, calling a civil rights hero the "N word" , calling Barney Frank the "F word", and actually spitting on a fellow Missouri Congressman. On the other hand, you have Reverend Emanuel Cleaver, a dignified Methodist minister and hard-working representative of fellow Missourians.

Jo Ann Emerson is making the wrong choice. She's standing with the spitters.

While she did not do the spitting, she egged on the unruly mob and has refused to reject the vitriol of the tea-baggers.

It's funny to contrast Jo Ann Emerson's immaturity and lack of discipline with the class and discipline of her opponent in this election cycle. Tommy Sowers is a straight arrow - if anyone dared to spit on a minister in his presence, no matter what the politics, educator/Green Beret Tommy Sowers would have the right stuff to put a stop to the nonsense, instead of encourage it.

Sometimes, the fog of politics rises for a moment, and you can see what kind of person someone is. Jo Ann Emerson is the kind of person who hangs out with people who would spit on Kansas City's chosen representative.

From St. Louis press:

"Missouri press are reporting that Rep. Russ Carnahan's (D-MO) home was targeted by protesters with a coffin over the weekend after he voted in support of the health care reform bill."

This-and death threats, nooses in the mail, bricks through windows-is the predictable outcome of Emerson, Republican leaders and Fox News creating, publishing and supporting crazy lies and misrepresentations about politics in general and HCR in particular, and cheering on the most out of touch, confused and angry of their "base." When serious violence happens-and it likely will-they'll all be properly shocked, deny any responsibility and blame the "too liberal" victim. After all, right to life "politics" had nothing to do with the death of George Tiller and other doctors. Sarah Palin, an expert at inflaming the ignorant and intolerant, can send out messages with rifle scope sights "targeting" Democratic congressmen, and deny any incitement or responsibility.

I hate these people; and the unbelievable, intentional ignorance that lets them get away with it. "Leaders" my ass.

If you'd like to track the violence, check the map here. We should all be proud Wichita is already on it; I'm sure there'll be more.

Cleaver spit on? Watch the video - clear case of "say it, don't spray it." I'm sure you wish someone intentionally spit on Cleaver, but the video just doesn't support that.

Unfortunately, the left and the right have been guilty of an awful lot of rude behavior lately. If you think I'm being too even-handed here, just subscribe to the e-mail newsletters of the Republican and Democrat parties. When anything bad happens, watch how both try to pin the blame on the other. Every current event is a fund-raising opportunity. It's sick and its not leadership.

Sorry, anonymous, if you're crazy enough to be frothing at the mouth, you're guilty of spitting. No wonder you opted to shield your name from being associated with such a weak argument.

And, really, give up on the moral equivalency argument, until you show us a liberal spitting on a minister who is merely walking past him.

You speak for all of Kansas City, including Independents, uh? Hardly.
