Partyng with the Tea Baggers
On Saturday, I went to the "Taking Our Country Back" Tour at the Sprint Center. It was a whole lot less impressive than I thought it would be. I'm not sure if the place was air-conditioned, or if the presence of Karl Rove sent a chill through the air.

1. The Hannity/Rove traveling Circus has nothing to do with the legitimate Tea Party movement.
2. I would expect a "progressive" like you to not use homophobic terms. I haven't called you a hypocrite in a while, but keep using that term and I will.
1. Is there a "legitimate" tea party movement? A lot of people there claimed to be proud teabaggers; who are you to judge their "legitimacy"?

Given that the tea bag movement is largely a creature of Fox News and Koch Industries, Craig may simply be a touch naive.

Craig, you may want to look up "grassroots," as I don't believe it means what you seem to think it means. Some actual data, from here:
For all the recent talk about Dems and independents connecting with the right-wing movement, Tea Partiers "usually or almost always vote Republican." And for all the hullabaloo about the groups' rallies, only 4% of the general public has "given money or attended a Tea Party event, or both."
Craig, you really should avoid inaccurate statements that are so easily debunked:
Koch Industries, a major backer of myriad right-wing causes, issued an unsolicited statement last night in advance of Tax Day claiming it has never provided funding "specifically to support the tea parties." But when TPMmuckraker followed up, a spokeswoman acknowledged that Koch funds one of the most prominent national groups that organizes ... tea parties.

Read the whole NYT poll, about Tea Partiers being more educated and having more wealth. A lot of other things that might interest you.
You might also want to look at the Washington Post article about the Tea Party being an undefinable rag tag, unorganized group of people with no defined leadership. If Koch is donating so much money, who are they donating it to?
The truth is, the Tea Party defies explaination, but the far left tries to define it to fit within their narrow ideology.

Either you are live so high in your elitist white towers that you don't really know. Or, you are being facetious.
Either way, I can imagine you two sitting behind your Macbooks giggling like middle schoolers every time you type "Teabaggers".

Craig - Wow, you go from crowing about their supposedly superior education to accusing me of being ivory tower in breakneck speed! No wonder you tried to break your thoughts into separate posts.
I'm not sure what point you're attempting to make when you point out that the teabaggers are privileged, educated (socialist public schools!) suburbanites who get together to whine. I made the same point! I agree that they have benefited from our society - many of them are on government health care and depend on SS checks. Their hypocrisy comes as no surprise to anyone.
As for their adopted name, if liberals somehow start organizing under the blowjob name, and call themselves blowjobbers, you are welcome to call them that. Frankly, I think the closest we ever came to such foolishness would have been back in the Clinton administration, but we just never went there.
BTW, would you like to apologize now for calling me homophobic, now that you have apparently realized that the rightwingers' term applies across preference categories?

Craig, it's obvious you're not interested in actual information; but if you bothered with the link I provided, you'd know it was Americans for Prosperity, which is the biggest tea party organizer along with Fox "news". Yes, they have more education and wealth; they also are white, Republican voting and largely male, and they want reduced government spending as long as it doesn't touch their social security, their Medicare or defense. Thus, among many other things, they are clueless about what the government spends. Of course, they want their taxes reduced at the same time.
They think their taxes have increased (false); they think that Glen Beck and Sean Hannity are news programs; they despise and attribute evil to people who disagree with them, and they think they are the only people who deserve to make decisions for all of us,despite being less than 20% of the population. In short, they are confused, ignorant and fundamentally un-American.
To steal a line: If you were to make a Venn Diagram of the issues Tea Party members care about, and the issues Tea Party members are confused about, you'd only see one circle.
One more thing Dan and then I am done.

They have done a wonderful job, and especially in Kansas City have made us what we are today.

Anonymous - Please understand, the vast majority of the scared, whiny white suburbanites at the event were Johnson Countians. And, like you, they probably don't realize that public schools in Johnson County are funded by tax dollars, too.
